Mistaken Identity.



i've been mistaken by some for quite a number of times. some thought im a chinese, filipino, vietnamese, indonesian and thai. and it happens anywhere.


case 1:
when i was working during the hols at Isetan, there's a customer who thought that i was a filipino and asked how long haf i been working here. he goes on talking abt foreign workers to me which makes me feel kinda awkward cause i knw nuts abt them. i only knw that they came here to work in order to help their family back home. initially, he asked how old am i. i said i was 17 then. he thought i was too young to work but i told him it's only a part time job since im having hols now. from there, he knws im a student. so he asked abt my school, where i was schooling and etc. after serving him, i brought him to the cashier and there, he asked "how's your family in Phillipines?" i was giving him WTH look while the auntie at the cashier was giggling to herself. i told him im a Singaporean and im a proud Malay. i guess he's disappointed with my ans cause he won't be able to date me who he thought is a filipino. hua hua hua. =P


case 2:
during the FMO, 2 of the admin and 2 of the logistics members went out to buy some cloth at Geylang. so we went to Joo Chiat Complex cause i was told by mum they sell cheap cloth there. we were looking for cloth within our budget for the Finale. we went to several shop till we decided to stop at this particular shop. the owner is a chinese man who can speak fluent malay.
but he spoke in english to us. thinking he look like a malay, i talked malay with him and he gave me a very stunned look. i thought he's suffering from heart attack or smth. he asked "awak melayu kah?" i said "yahhh.." he thought im a chinese since my other 3 friends is a chinese. he told that he was kinda shock to see me speaking malay very fluently. like duhh.. i learn malay since i was young and that's my mother tongue. he kept emphasizing that i look like chinese and i guess he can't believe his ears when i speak malay with him.


case 3:
i was late as usual when i wanted to meet Rose, Saiful and Mus at town. i saw Saiful from far and i smiled at him as his head was turned towards my direction. but weirdly, he did not smile back at me or called out my name. thinking that he's blind and needed specs, i kept quiet. so when i went to meet them, i asked him whether he saw me. he instantly reply "noo.." i told him i was smiling at him and he excalimed "OHH!!! aku igtkan kau org Indonesia maner tu psl aku tk senyum balik." Shahrikin used to tell me on MSN that i look like one.

so now u knw the reasons y malay guys rarely approach me. they think im not a malay. *kwang kwang kwang*

bak pepatah haikal, aku ader 3 races at my IC which is Thai, filipino and Vietnamese. but of course, that's not true. im a proud Malay.
